*waves* Hi everyone.  I'm not dead as you can see.  Work has been extremely busy and stressful lately, and I'm exhausted in the evenings, and feeling very unsocial, which is why I've been missing from LJ and AIM.  I have, however been posting over at tumblr, because I find it far easier to upload pictures there.

I'm neck deep in default replacing all of the meals that came with the game at the moment, but my story is also not dead.  I have one more section to write for the next chapter, before I can edit it, so I will get onto that at some point, once my brain decides that it likes words and forming coherent sentences again.  I've also signed up for [livejournal.com profile] sim_spiration's Myshuno! again this year.  My thread is here, so please feel free to prompt me.  I make no promises about how I'm going to do, but I need to kick start the ol' noggin and this should be a fun way to do it.

Ok, so those of you who follow my tumblr might have seen that I'm working on default replacing the food sims can prepare with more nineteenth century meals and ingredients.  Since this is something which is very new to me, I'd like to get the files tested before I upload them properly.  It's one of those things where I think I'm doing everything right, but I'd like to make sure they work for everyone and not just me.

Some pictures and explanations below. )

Hi everyone, we've started a new theme over at [livejournal.com profile] victoria_george for September and October.

Come share with us all your lovely pictures of sims and their carriages.

So, I stumbled across Edenstyle's write ups of the Sims 4 masterclass at Gamescom yesterday.  They're quite interesting to read and give a little bit more information than the video released by EA, so I recommend you look at them.  Some things that jumped out at me:

Sims 4?

SO I'm sure some of you have seen this video showing the first look at the Sims 4 gameplay.:

Quite a few thoughts this-a way. )

One of the many, many things that's stopping me from playing at the moment, is the thought that I am going to need many, many more pieces of clothing as the legacy goes on.  This wasn't so much of a problem earlier on, when I hadn't used a lot of the clothing I have, or when my sims were more sims than characters, but as I've gone on, I've started wanting individual and unique pieces of clothing for my main sims.  This really came home to me the other day when I was playing around with looks for one of Bertie and Sophia's twins the other day, and I realised I'm going to need to make her new dresses for her, for all of her life stages.  In the past, I've tended to just nick bits and pieces from clothing that I already have and mash them together, but I really want to be able to make clothes properly.  Heget posted this tutorial over at PBK (you need to be logged in to view it I think) a while ago, and I started trying to follow it, but then forgot about it.  Well, I've decided to give it a go again.

I've uploaded the werewolf skin I was working on.  Details over at the Emporium at the bottom of the page.

Hello everyone.   I've still not started with writing the remainder of the next chapter yet, even though it's now cooled down, because I've been in a creating/fixing/organising mood instead.  Here is a list of the on-going projects (some of which I started three years ago), which I've been looking at recently.

I never post cc finds like this to my own journal, but these are so good I had to share in case there are any of you like me who loves plants.  Ohbehave converted a shedload of plants and trees for the GOS theme back in February, but I've only just found them.  They are AWESOME and includes a near perfect silver birch (only near perfect because the leaf shape is that of a willow, but the trunk and canopy shapes are perfect, and I'm so happy to find it since I can replace the Maxis ones now).  The only thing is that they are not seasonal, but when they look this good, I'm sure that's not going to matter to a lot of people.

EDIT: it turns out that one of the recolours of one of the other trees has birch leaves.  My brain, it is aworking.

Following on from the llama mascot yesterday, I decided to sort out the cow mascot today.

So this meme was going around about a year ago, and I suddenly felt the urge to look at it again and complete one for Sophia.  I thought that some of you might also be interested in reading it, so I'm posting it here.

The New, Improved Character Survey of Doom )

Last week on tumblr, I was lamenting the fact that I still hadn’t decided what to do about the llama mascot in Regalton.  Heidi had the brilliant suggestion to use the mesh I’ve been using for Bertie and the rest of the footballers, so that’s what I was going to do.  However, this morning when I woke up, my brain started mulling the idea over, and I decided that, since we’d already seen the football team a lot over the last few chapters, maybe using that kit wasn’t the best idea.  But hang on, what if my mascot was the captain of the cricket team?  That’d work.

  1. Edit Sarah Jane's necklace and earrings so that they are actualfax jewellery and not accessories.

  2. Install the neighbourhood tree defaults I downloaded so that I could test them.

  3. Install the other stuff I've downloaded over the past three months but haven't put into my game because I've been working on getting things set up for filming.

Oh well.  It's nice to be playing again.  I'm posting a few pictures that amuse me on my tumblr because it's easy, and I'm probably not going to post any long rotational picspams until after I've got another couple of chapters out, to bring my writing and playing more up to date.  (I'm two rotations ahead of what I've written at the moment).

I've not made much more progress on the next chapter over the past week and a bit.  Work was pretty crazy whilst I was filming the last chapter, and it's gotten even more nutso over the past week and a half.  I'm really not sure when it's going to calm down, but it does mean that I'm exhausted in the evenings, so don't feel like writing, and I'm not getting time during the day to jot things down that I can use later to work on the scenes I need to write.  It's also been really hot this week, and when it's hot, sitting at my computer is not a nice thing to do, because it's in front of a window which gets the afternoon sun.  I did make a very quick piece of cc which I'll need, which is good, but I have more to make, which will be more in depth.  What I'm saying is, I've not made the progress I was hoping for this week, and so I'm not going to get chapter 25 up as soon as I wanted to.  I will get it out, and it will be quicker than my other chapters have been lately.

I've also not made as much progress on the things I'm working on for V&G because of this, but again, I will get to them.

That's it really.  I hope you're all well.

We have a new theme over at V&G.

Come and check it out!

Six years ago today, a very nervous simmer uploaded the first chapter of her Victorian Legacy to the exchange.  Today, that same, VERY nervous simmer is uploading the latest chapter to Authorstream.  Click on the picture to go to my Dreamwidth to read it.  Enjoy and erm, Happy Legaversary?

Comments (if you should so wish to comment), can be left here or over at my Dreamwidth.

Thanks everyone who has been testing the files I uploaded a few weeks ago.  I'm still waiting to hear from some people, but it looks as if everything works fine which is great.  It looks like LJ lost my original post in the clusterfuck a few weeks ago, so please feel free to comment in this post if you are testing those files.

I have a few more things I'd like tested and they all have EP requirements, so please read those carefully.  These are all Bioshock Infinite conversions, and, not going to lie, I could spend hours upon hours going through, extracting meshes and converting.  This is the first time I've had a game I can extract things from that will look right in Regalton.

A few pictures and some explanations. )

I'm feeling better tonight so I was going to spend it making cc.  Part way through the first project, windows started telling me my HD is failing.  It's done this once before, waaaaaay back in Feb 2012, and everything has been fine since, but just in case, I'm spending my time backing everything up.  Hopefully it'll be nothing again, but if I lost this chapter, the start of the next, the members of gen 6 who have been born, and the cc projects I've been working on, I would be less than happy.

Doing some testing of my hat stands to see if I can replicate the errors one of my testers has had (no luck so far) and well.

Is anyone else finding this?  I have a couple of entries I made on the 10th and 11th of May.  They're showing on my friends list when i go back that far, but not on my journal.  Clicking on them in my archive just redirects to a page saying no entries exist for this day.  Is this due to the cluster error and maintenance do you think?

I was playing for a bit last night, rather than editing, and Donna ended up pregnant.

more twins

That's the third set of twins out of six pregnancies so far this generation, and every set has belonged to a sim that is a twin in my story.  (Sophia, Andrew and now Christopher).  Now I know that Sophia and Lauren were never really twins in the game; they're ordinary ALT dormies, but I decided to make them twins for my story since they are identical.  I also know that both Andrew and Christopher, although twins from Regalton 2.0, were created as single sims in Regalton 3.0 and so shouldn't carry any twin gene, but I don't think my game knows that.  It tickles me that my game is making my sims from multiple births have twins themselves.

I've also decided that playing just two days in each house for a rotation is too short.  I'm going to give playing four a go next time, and have been trying to come up with a solution for playing university to keep it all in line with the rest of the neighbourhood.  At the moment I'm thinking of playing the university lots both at the start of the rotation and at the end.  This should allow me graduate any sims who will graduate after the first year of the rotation and be able to put them into the hood at the proper time, whilst also allowing me to send any sims to uni after the first year who should go, and play through their first year at uni.
