What I really love about that quote, and I've tried to bring this into the drabble, is that the Dowager Countess of Grantham, although stuck firmly in the Victorian era, so obviously forms her own opinions and takes no prisoners with them. And yet she gives this very traditional rhetoric without seeming to realise how she goes against it herself. Matilda is very similar.
