Title: Clandestine,
Prompt: A clandestine meeting at the Natural history museum.
Rating: U.
Spoiler rating: 1/10.
Summary: Vicky attends a meeting.
Notes: I don't really have much to say about this. It would be nice to say that this is a lead in to a new interlude, but it's not. It's just a little scene that came to me on reading the prompt. Oh! But it does let me claim a Myshuno!

Clandestine.
The lamps were already burning low in preparation for closing time as Vicky Legacy hurried through the entrance to the Natural History Museum. She had spent a little time wondering why she had been summoned so near to closing time, before concluding that the person she was meeting wanted to remain anonymous, just a face in the crowd. She would have been feeling more apprehensive about the meeting if Rosie hadn't set off for the museum forty-five minutes before and, Vicky looked across the room towards one of the gigantic dinosaur skeletons, yes there she was, her fiery head clearly visible even in the dimmed lighting. As Vicky glanced over, Rosie casually looked round the room and moved her umbrella from one hand to the other, their signal that she hadn't noticed anything amiss.
Rosie clocked, she moved towards one of the skeletons, all the while looking for Mr Vetinari. She spotted him on the first floor, near the stairs, chatting to an extremely attractive lady. She felt a small pang of jealousy and pushed it away. She was, much as she didn't like to admit it, a married woman, and besides, she had come to the conclusion that what she felt for Mr Vetinari was purely physical. They disagreed far too much for it to be anything else, and Vicky was so, so sick and tired of arguing. Connor glanced down at that moment, and saw her. He ran his hand through his messy curls and she saw the woman he was talking to swoon. Ignoring her completely, Vicky nodded at him, and looked round the entrance hall once more.
There was a vacant seat against one of the walls, not far from the largest dinosaur and she made her way over to it. As she arranged her skirts around her as she sat, she felt the fizz of excitement start bubbling through her veins. Someone had requested a meeting with her. Someone who either needed her help, or had information for her. A new case was just around the corner, she could practically smell it.
She watched the crowd as it ebbed and flowed, noticing the husband and wife who had had a quarrel, the young man hoping to impress the young lady on his arm. (The young lady in question was, if Vicky was any judge, more interested in the other woman accompanying them, the young man's sister, given their prominent nose and chin), and the nanny who had obviously hoped that the trip to the museum would calm her charges, but was leaving disappointed, two excited and hyperactive young boys in tow. She also noticed the woman keeping to the shadows, the hood of her cloak up, hiding her face. She took care not to let her gaze linger on her as she scanned the room, and she certainly wasn't surprised when she became aware of the fact the lady in the cloak had joined her on her bench. "Mrs Simself?" The voice under the hood was timorous, and Vicky also got the idea that the speaker was trying to disguise its sound, if not its accent.
"Yes."
A relieved sigh escaped from under the hood. "Oh thank goodness. Thank you for meeting with me. I do hope that you do not mind if I do not show my face. I have no problems trusting you, but I am scared. So, so scared." The voice broke, and Vicky reached out to take her hands. She wasn't entirely surprised when her companion shrank back.
"If I can help you, I promise I will."
"Thank you! Oh thank you!" The woman took a deep shuddering breath. "You see, it is my husband..."
Vicky listened as the woman told her story, filing away details for further examination, all the while revelling in the adrenaline coursing through her veins. This was what she lived for, what she craved. This was when she knew that she had made at least one good decision in her life.
