*Laughs* You see that  ^  I'm done!  It's over!  The rebuild that has taken six months is FINISHED!

I cannot tell you how happy I am to be through with this.  I can now start thinking about the story again, and I might even do a  little bit of playing.  After all, the first member of generation 6 is on its way, and I have an heir to get married.  :D

I know I should perhaps some more coherent thoughts, but nope.  I'm just so happy to be done!

Townies!

Soooo, all the townies are in and (nearly) all the npcs are created and made over.  I'm still missing some, but I can wait and make them over as the game generates them (in both hoods).

A list and some pictures this way )

There's a tutorial over at PBK for editing the hobby lots, so I thought I'd give it a go.  unfortunately, even though I followed it exactly, the changes I made, didn't stick.  All that work for nothing.  Oh well, I do like the ideas I have though, so I might have to build the lots anyway and pop them in the dummy hood if I ever feel like filming something on them.

Time for another rebuild update.

Five years ago today, a naïve young lady started a challenge that she thought would take a year, two tops, by plonking a sim called Gabe Legacy on a lot in a subhood of Pleasantview.

Some ruminations and a few pictures )

But to finish, I do want to give something more to you all, as a token of my thanks and appreciation for all the support, encouragement and friendship you've given me over the past five years.  So, what I'm going to do, is something I've not done before and open this entry up to questions.  Is there something you really want to know about my sims or characters?  Perhaps you want to know how old Eddie is, or what's Sarah Jane's favourite colour.  Do you want to know more about Sophia's relationship with her father?  You can ask anything, but be aware that I'm not going to spoil my upcoming plot here.  Anything that does look like it'll be too spoilery, I won't answer, and anything that I'm not comfortable sharing with everyone, I might send you a pm about.  But ask away!

Those of you who follow [livejournal.com profile] sim_spirationmight remember my pep talk for this year’s SimStoCreMo.  It was written from personal experience and, well I need to take that advice again, and to try to further add to my peace of mind, I need to write some things down.

Sooo, no proper rebuild update this week. It’s not that I’ve not done anything because I have. Everything for the first stage of setting up the hood is complete, and I’m about halfway through the rotation so I can get the last couple of buildings packaged up and into the new hood. I’ve also done a lot of thinking about ages, made a couple of mods, and worked out how old all my characters are in human years. And in the process of doing all that, I’ve burnt myself out with regards to sims. So much so that I can’t even face the thought of posting my list and talking about what I need to do next, so I’m not going to. I’m having a complete break from the Sims for at least a week, possibly more, it all depends on how I feel.

Instead, I’m really enjoying playing the Mass Effect games, and since I missed being able to talk about ME and ME2 with my friends when Cait was playing, because I’m behind the times, you get to see my thoughts here instead. I give you all fair warning, there are spoilers for the games, especially the first one below. If you don’t want to know what happens, don’t read this. Enjoy.

Er, hello

So, I've been neglecting LJ a bit lately, sorry about that.  I've been taking a kinda break from simming, not too much, but maybe only doing a tiny bit, before playing Mass Effect.  I bought it back in the autumn, wanting a new RPG to get my teeth into, but I found the combat a bit difficult to get used to, so I set it aside.  Well, a couple of weeks ago with the launch of ME3 coming up and all the publicity surrounding it out and about, I decided to give it another go, and I'm really enjoying it.  I'm pottering around doing side quests at the moment, as I normally do with RPGs but it's fun, and a nice distraction from simming.

Time for my weekly update.

Listy listy )

I wanted to post this on Friday, but due to circumstances beyond my control, I was without internet most of Thursday and all of Friday.  It came back on yesterday, but I spent my internet time catching up with various things.  Anyway, I've been making very good progress with the rebuild the past two weeks.

List and thoughts under here )

Anyway, that's what I've been doing with my game recently.  :D
dicreasy2: (Default)
My big project this past week has been hats!  It's only a fairly recent thing that we've stopped wearing hats as an everyday occurrence.  Nowadays, they are seen only on special occasions, such as at weddings, or Royal Ascot, but up until after the Second World War, everyone wore a hat when they left the house.  In fact the older generation (men especially) still wear hats.  My Grandad always wore a cloth cap when he went out.  Anyway the point is that all of my sims should wear hats when they're outdoors, but that there is a woeful lack of them, especially for my menfolk.  Up until this week I've only had two hats I've really used for my blokes, the base game top hat, and a bowler from Carnaby sims.  The bowler was only for teens, adults and elders, but a few months ago, I enabled it for young adults, and made several recolours using different hat colours I've found at AAS and [livejournal.com profile] xgoat's LJ.  I also planned to pooklet the base game fedora, since, I can also get away with using that, but even then, that mean I had only three styles of hat to use.  I want the new neighbourhood to be as accurate to the time period and country as possible, and having so few hats wasn't what I wanted, so I made some more.  Four styles of men's hat and one lady's.

we have a range of up to date styles )

EDIT: I'm currently without internet at home, and will respond to the rest of the comments, either when it's back up, or in my lunch break at work.

Earlier today I was suddenly struck by the thought that I really, really miss writing Alexandra.  This is good, because 1) it means that maybe I'm coming out of the writing funk I've been in for the past year, and 2) I'm now itching  to get the rebuild finished so I can play and then start planning the next set of chapters.

And I am making progress with that.  I'm planning on posting pictures of what I've been doing this week once I'm finished, so hopefully they'll be out in a few days.  In the meantime, here's my to-do list for getting the neighbourhood ready.

Great big list )

As you can see, lot's have been crossed off, but there's still lots to do.

dicreasy2: (Default)
SO with the xmas special over and done with, I'm back to working on the rebuild, and it's going well.  With the exception of the society houses, I've got every other complete lot now in the new hood, and the new dummy hood.  I also finished furnishing a lot I've had half finished for over two years, so I'm pleased about that.  I now have three lots I need to build for the move and/or the next set of chapters, one small and two large with specific purposes.  Of course, the lot I decided I wanted to build last week, wasn't any of those.  It was a completely unrelated farm.

Some things

Hi guys, just popping in with a few notices for you.

First up, Boolprop in its current form is closing. Rhea explains all here, and it looks like she is going to make a new forum, on a free forums site. If you have anything there you want to keep, go and back it up. Since it's closing, I'm not going to do comment responses over there now. Instead, I've saved all your comments, and I'm going to do something with them on the new forum, when it's up and running. So you will all get responses from me, just not there, and probably not for a little while.

Second of all, this is something I've hinted at, but not officially said. Well, now I'm making it official. My legacy is on hiatus while I deal with rebuilding the neighbourhood and making things awesome there. I don't know how long this will take, so I can't say when I'll get back to playing or writing, but I'm not giving up on the family at all. The main problem, and why I'm rebuilding and putting the story on hold now, is that the best place for me to transfer everyone to the new hood, is when Bertie graduates and moves home, before any of generation 6 are born. Well, that's also when the plot explodes for generation 5, and to be quite honest with you all, if I leave the end of chapter 24 where I'm planning to, and then take four, five, or even six plus months to rebuild and update again, you will all hunt me down with pitchforks and flaming torches. So, what I'd like to do, is get the last part of chapter 24, and the first part of chapter 25 out within a short time of each other. In order to do that, I need the new hood ready to go as soon as I've finished playing my next rotation.

Notice the third, my rebuild is currently on hiatus too. December is turning out to be a busy month for me, and my computer time in the evenings is going to be used for other projects for the forseeable future. Given how lacking my inspiration with decorating has been this week, this break from it might turn out to be a good thing. Well, one can hope.

So, the rebuild is going quite well.  It's slow (not helped by the fact I keep getting distracted by Minecraft and TS3), but it is going, and I'm pleased with it.  Anyway, the big thing I've been working on for the past few days, is the redecorating of the main house.  I was going to wait until chapter 25 to post a tour, but I've found that at the moment, if I don't do what I want to, when I think about it, I don't get it done.  This is one reason why I haven't finished any of the ideas I've had for Myshuno! lately.  So, since I feel like posting the house tour now, that's what I'm going to do.  (For a look at how the house used to look, see this post I made for my publishing legaversary.)

Fire!

After a lot of swearing, and deciding that I hate brass, (honestly, why so shiny?  It made things very, very difficult), I've finished the fireman's outfits.  Well, as finished as I care to be at the moment.  The helmet isn't perfect (both in terms of mesh and texture), but it's the best I can do at the moment, and, to tell the truth, I think it looks pretty damn good.  Certainly a lot, lot better then anything in game, and I've not seen anyone else attempt this, so ....

Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiire! )
dicreasy2: (Default)
Hello everyone.  I've been more than a little quiet lately, since I've not been feeling particularly chatty.  I did want to get a behind the scenes post done, but I don't have too much to say about the last chapter and it's filming, so that's been pushed to the back burner for a bit.  And I know I also have to respond to comments over at Boolprop.  I will get to that, but I'm not sure when, because, believe it or not, I have been very busy.
