Body and Appearance
1. Describe the character's height and build. Is he heavyset, thin, short, rangy?
He’s tall for his era, 6’1” and rather slim and rangy. He’s not as lanky as his father though, and far slimmer than his athletic brother. Not that he knows this, but he has the same build as his grandfather Charles Hutchins.
2. How old is he?
We’re going to see him from his birth right through until his death, and at the moment, he’s 18/19, and that’s the age I’ll be answering questions about him on.
3. Describe his posture. Does he carry himself well or does he slouch?
He carries himself well, and as such looks his height, but it’s not done consciously. He takes no notice of his height or that he’s taller than almost everyone else he knows, and therefore has no need to slouch.
4. How is his health? Is he fit or out of shape? Any illnesses or conditions? Any physical disabilities?
He’s very healthy.
5. How does he move? Is he clumsy, graceful, tense, fluid?
He has an easy grace about him, that comes from being completely comfortable in his own skin.
6. How attractive is this character physically? How does he perceive himself in the mirror?
Like his brother, if you look at his features individually then he isn’t a conventionally attractive man. His nose is too small and flat, his lips too full, and his chin (which is the only feature that differs from his brother), is too weak. However all together his features work and he’s a very handsome. He doesn’t really think about how he looks, beyond thinking how much he resembles his father and brother. If he did, then he would think that he looks fairly handsome, but not dashing.
7. Describe his complexion. Dark, light, clear, scarred?
Very pale and clear, yet also rosy. He looks healthy.
8. Describe his hair: color, texture, style.
Dark brown and it has a tendency to stand up and not lie flat. It’s something that used to drive his grandmother mad. He’s now embraced it, and purposefully waxes the front of his hair where is stands on end.
9. What color are his eyes?
A clear green, just like his father’s and brother’s.
10. Does the character have any other noteworthy features?
Pass
11. What are his chief tension centers?
He’s prone to headaches.
12. What is the character's wardrobe like? Casual, dressy, utilitarian? Bright colors, pastels, neutrals? Is it varied, or does he have six of the same suit?
His favourite colour is green and he likes to wear that when he can. He’s currently wearing a suit of dark green wool twill, which he likes very much.
13. Do his clothes fit well? Does he seem comfortable in them?
In Regalton, his clothes are made for him, and therefore fit well. They suit him and he looks good in them. He’s also comfortable in them.
14. Does he dress the same on the job as he does in his free time? If not, what are the differences?
He doesn’t have a job at the moment, so I can’t answer this.
15. You knew it was coming: Boxers, briefs or commando?
Drawers. Wool and flannel in winter and cotton and silk in summer.
Speech
1. What does this character's voice sound like? High-pitched, deep, hoarse?
He has a fairly deep voice, which sounds comforting.
2. How does he normally speak? Loud, soft, fast, evenly? Does he talk easily, or does he hesitate?
He’s fairly soft spoken, and talks very easily. It fits with the easy grace and confidence he has.
3. Does the character have a distinct accent or dialect? Any individual quirks of pronunciation? Any, like, you know, verbal tics?
He speaks with a Victorian middle class, home counties English accent.
4. What language/s does he speak, and with how much fluency?
Simlish, which is English, and Takemizu, which his step mother taught him and his brother when they asked what the locals were saying when they visited Takemizu Village.
5. Does he switch languages or dialects in certain situations?
No.
6. Is he a good impromptu speaker, or does he have to think about his words?
He’s a good impromptu speaker really. He’s prone to overthinking things and letting the moment pass him by, and this gets him into trouble at various times, but especially with regards to relationships.
7. Is he eloquent or inarticulate? Under what circumstances might this change?
He’s eloquent, and that comes from his easy going nature and confidence.
Mental and Emotional
1. How intelligent is this character? Is he book-smart or street-smart?
He’s pretty intelligent. He certainly likes to learn how things work. Where he’s not intelligent, is that he’s fairly naïve and not always good at joined up thinking and seeing consequences.
2. Does he think on his feet, or does he need time to deliberate?
He’s best of he can think on his feet. Like I say above, he has a tendency to overthink things if he has too much time to deliberate. Sometimes he should just go with his gut and act.
3. Describe the character's thought process. Is he more logical, or more intuitive? Idealistic or practical?
He tends towards the logical, when perhaps sometimes it’s best if he goes with his intuition. He’s both idealistic and practical. When it comes to what he wants to do in life, ie engineering, then he is very practical. He has to be really. However when it comes to relationships and everyday life, then he’s very idealistic.
4. What kind of education has the character had?
He was educated at the Board school in Simford until he was 18. He’s now working on a joint honours degree in mathematics and physics.
5. What are his areas of expertise? What, if anything, is he interested in learning more about?
Like I say, he wants to go into engineering. He’s fascinated by how things are put together and how they work. Clockwork is a particular passion of his, and he’d love to know more about that and gearing in general.
6. Is he an introvert or an extrovert?
I suppose you could say that he’s an extrovert. He likes meeting people, and getting to know them. He’s the sort of person who would go up to a stranger in a room, and strike up a conversation with them, and let them lead it, without them realising he’s doing so.
7. Describe the character's temperament. Is he even-tempered or does he have mood swings? Cheerful or melancholy? Laid-back or driven?
Very even tempered, laid back and easy going.
8. How does he respond to new people or situations? Is he suspicious, relaxed, timid, enthusiastic?
He’s very enthusiastic about meeting new people, but also very relaxed in their company.
9. Is he more likely to act, or to react?
Ooh, this is difficult. Act I think. But also maybe react depending on the situation.
10. Which is his default: fight or flight?
Fight.
11. Describe the character's sense of humor. Does he appreciate jokes? Puns? Gallows humor? Bathroom humor? Pranks?
He likes puns and also word play. He won’t tell his brother this, but he thinks Bertie is very witty and he cracks him up.
12. Does the character have any diagnosable mental disorders? If yes, how does he deal with them?
No.
13. What moments in this character's life have defined him as a person?
His father telling him that sometimes the little guy needs someone looking out after them. The moment he realised that his brother needed his help. Meeting Elle. Choosing to reject the offer of a place at SPU because him attending New Simbridge meant a lot to Bertie.
14. What does he fear?
Failing those he cares about.
15. What are his hopes or aspirations?
He wants to marry the girl of his dreams and have a family.
16. What is something he doesn't want anyone to find out about him?
He’s starting to resent his brother and the burden he places on him through his dependence.
Relationships
1. Describe this character's relationship with his parents.
He can’t remember his mother and the one time he’s met her since Eddie threw her out, he didn’t know who she was.
Very good with his father. They’re close and Stuart recognises that there is a lot he can learn from him.
Also very good with his step-mother who has been like a mother to him. He has a lot of respect and love for her.
2. Does the character have any siblings? What is/was their relationship like?
One full brother, Bertie. They are very close, even if their relationship is unbalanced. When they were younger, it always felt as if Stuart was the one to give, and Bertie took. Since Bertie has been at university and gaining confidence things have been a bit more balanced, but they have the tendency to fall back into the pattern of Bertie demanding and Stuart giving. Stuart has gotten used to not having to constantly give to and look after his brother, and when Bertie shows signs of wanting their relationship to be just as it was, once Stuart is at university, then Stuart is going to start becoming resentful.
He also has a half-sister Emmi, whom he dotes on. He actually probably has a better and more balanced relationship with Emmi, mainly because she’s not dependent on him in the same way Bertie is, and also she doesn’t let him crowd her. She’ll say that she doesn’t need him with her all the time, and because of that, when they do spend time together, it is quality time and they do what they both want to do.
3. Are there other blood relatives to whom he is close? Are there ones he can't stand?
He’s very close to his cousin David, because they are nearly the same age (one sim day separates them, which is 6 months in how I play). He’s also close to Andrew and Peter, although not as close to them as Bertie is, and pretty close to Mickey, Zane, Gregory and Harry, although again, because of the age different (about 4 to 5 years), he’s not as close as he could be. Oh and he’s also close to Celestia.
It’s not that he can’t stand Sarah Jane, but he finds her a lot of work and isn’t very close to her at all.
4. Are there other, unrelated people whom he considers part of his family? What are his relationships with them?
He’s fond of Billy Fitzhugh.
5. Who is/was the character's best friend? How did they meet?
His best friend is Bertie, his brother.
6. Does he have other close friends?
Dean Whedonberry.
7. Does he make friends easily, or does he have trouble getting along with people?
He makes friends very easily. His easy going manner and easy confidence endears him to people, as does the fact that he seems interested in them and would rather talk about them, than himself.
8. Which does he consider more important: family or friends?
Family.
9. Is the character single, married, divorced, widowed? Has he been married more than once?
He’s courting Elle Fitzhugh and can’t imagine falling in love and spending his life with anyone else.
10. Is he currently in a romantic relationship with someone other than a spouse?
No.
11. Who was his first crush? Who is his latest?
Elle and Elle. As far as he’s concerned, she’s the love of his life.
12. What does he look for in a romantic partner?
He’s never thought about it. All he knows is that he thinks Elle is perfect.
13. Does the character have children? Grandchildren? If yes, how does he relate to them? If no, does he want any?
He’s currently in his first year at university, so no he doesn’t have any children yet. He’d like some though.
14. Does he have any rivals or enemies?
He doesn’t think he does, however John see him as an enemy.
15. What is the character's sexual orientation? Where does he fall on the Kinsey scale?
Straight.
16. How does he feel about sex? How important is it to him?
He’s a virgin in game, and in my world he’d stay a virgin until married. However, I can say that the way he thinks about sex is that it’s a very special thing, the ultimate expression of love between two people. That connection is the important thing to him, and a big part of the reason why he wouldn’t have sex before marrying. I would like to point out though, that in a different universe, say one where he’s been separated from the woman he loves, then he would have sex with her if they were reunited and their differences sorted out. He wouldn’t have slept with anyone else in the meantime.
17. What are his turn-ons? Turn-offs? Weird bedroom habits?
The only woman I can visualise him with, is Elle, but in general, he likes intelligent women. He also doesn’t like women who are too skinny, or too curvy. He finds the exaggerated silhouette with a large bustle that is in fashion faintly ridiculous. In fact, he prefers the natural form silhouette. A womanly shape, but not distorted.
Beliefs
1. Do you know your character's astrological (zodiac of choice) sign? How well does he fit type?
He’s an Aries. He doesn’t really fit it, reading the characteristics, but it’s what the game gave me.
2. Is this character religious, spiritual, both, or neither? How important are these elements in his life?
He’s a member of my world’s equivalent of the CofE.
3. Does this character have a personal code of morals or ethics? If so, how did that begin? What would it take to compromise it?
He is a very ethical person. He will always do what is right, even if it means he gets hurt. It would take something exceptional to make him compromise his morals.
4. How does he regard beliefs that differ from his? Is he tolerant, intolerant, curious, indifferent?
It depends on how they differ. If someone willing does something he considers immoral, then he’s not very understanding and doesn’t want it to be explained to him either. If however, it’s a difference in belief, then he’s curious and wants to know more about it.
5. What prejudices does he hold? Are they irrational or does he have a good reason for them?
He’s not prejudiced at all.
Daily Life
1. What is the character's financial situation? Is he rich, poor, comfortable, in debt?
He’s well off. His family is very comfortable now, with his grandfather’s businesses having elevated them to the upper part of the middle class while making them fairly rich.
2. What is his social status? Has this changed over time, and if so, how has the change affected him?
Upper middle class.
3. Where does he live? House, apartment, trailer? Is his home his castle or just a place to crash? What condition is it in? Does he share it with others?
He’s currently living in the Legacy Society, but before that, he lived in one of the halls of residence at New Simbridge university. Until he went to university, he lived in the family home in Regalton. He dreams of being able to afford a large cottage in Regalton.
4. Besides the basic necessities, what does he spend his money on?
As a teenager, items that he could use to add to the train set his grandfather bought. And books, he likes books.
5. What does he do for a living? Is he good at it? Does he enjoy it, or would he rather be doing something else?
At the moment he’s a student and he’s doing well in his studies. He would like to be an engineer.
6. What are his interests or hobbies? How does he spend his free time?
Model making; taking things apart and putting them back together again; reading; music.
7. What are his eating habits? Does he skip meals, eat out, drink alcohol, avoid certain foods?
He’s not that fussed about food really. He eats when he should and he even enjoys the food he eats, but it’s not important to him, and he could quite happily skip meals altogether.

1. Color? Green
2. Smell? Engine oil
3. Time of day? Dawn
4. Season? Spring
5. Book? He’ll read anything.

9. Plant? Oak trees
10. Animal? Cats. It’s the curiosity.
