What I've failed at recently.

So, the reason I'm pleased I got Go Fish done, is because I'm failing at pretty much everything else at the moment. Filming on the next chpater, something I'd hoped to have finished by now is going incrediably slowly. I'm only about a quarter done with it, despite having worked on it for well over a month, and although I was finding my feet with it last week, I realised that I needed to build a set for it, which broke my stride. I'm hoping to get some more filming done this weekend, but who knows?
I also go distracted trying to edit a dress to get rid of the horrible modesty panel. I hate with a passion how all my long skirts and dresses have awful shoes and modesty panels. I started work on making a version of the chirko bustle with petticoats and proper legs under it, moving the modesty panel up to where it wouldn't be seen.
It works when a sim is doing almost anything but walking.

^^ This effect is awesome.

^^ This bleed through is driving me nuts. I've tried everything I can think of with adjusting the bones of the petticoats and dress to match with the legs completely. I've even moved bits of the skirts to try to fix it and nothing works. A version without the petticoats is much better, although it still needs a bit of adjusting and or some texture manipulation.
I might very well have to compromise and make the petticoat-less version, because I am so pleased with these boots:

but I'm bummed that I've failed at making the mesh I wanted to.
I think if I do go with the petticoat-less version, I'm also going to do a version of the mesh with shoes rather than boots, which will then allow me to use it for evening dresses.
EDIT: no petticoats, but minimal bleed thorugh now.

Date: 2012-08-18 10:50 am (UTC)I can't imagine how you would avoid the clipping and bleed-through. Even some of Maxis's own stuff does that! At any rate it's amazing you CAN do what you do and the boots are pretty darned awesome. :D

Looking at the original mesh, there is a bit of bleed through, and it was based on a maxis mesh. it's a pain. But the bleed through I was getting with the petticoats in place was too much to leave in. Thanks. I'm really pleased with the boots.
