Chapter 17 Out-takes
Dec. 30th, 2008 12:37 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
Yup with a new chapter up and done, it's time for some out-takes from making it. I say some, but according to photobucket I've just uploaded 85 pictures, so I guess that should be lots?
First thing to talk about I think is how difficult it was for me playing Eddie's wedding. I really did hate doing it knowing what Marielle will be treating him like and how their marriage will be. I know he's only pixels and I know I'm manipulating it al, but it was still horrible to do.
This was the original guest list for Eddie's wedding, but the game crashed so I had to cut it down slightly.

As you can see there's plenty of "Anne's a romance sim." "Orlando's a romance sim." "Frederick's a popularity sim." And "Patrick's a popularity sim." Going on. Perhaps it was a good thing I had to redo it after all.
The wedding was chaotic enough with sims getting up and changing seats, or not finding seats at all.

"William just sit down will you. Your son is getting married."
Theo never did find a seat.

"What?"

BAD Theo BAD! Theo actually has 3 bolts with three sims I would really rather he didn't. SimDi, His Aunt Beth (insert eye-roll here) and his Grandmama Violet because they are actually only very distantly related (great aunt/great nephew). *head-desk*. Thankfully Theo is pretty good and keeps inappropriate heartfarts to a minimum, and is so wrapped up in SimNerd he wouldn't do anything anyway.
Theo did stay looking at the back of the chapel for the entire ceremony, but most everyone else, even if they didn't find a seat (SimDi, Stanley and Patrick) did look the right way.

Some more random funny things from the chapel.

"Damn my wife is hot!"
She's a bitch!
"Yes, but she's a hot bitch."

"Not sure that was a good idea..."

"Congrats on marrying a nice man at the second attempt sis."

"I know what you are like Marielle and how you will hurt my brother."

"We've not flirted for the entirety of the ceremony. I think we should put that right."

"I agree."
Just because I love Alexandra:

Another reason to hate Marielle:

"Your cousin Timothy is very hot Eddie."

"Aww man she's not heartfarting me is she? You know we can't help the romance sim instabolts."
I do have to keep an eye on these two since they do have 3 bolts and Marielle has 10 outgoing points.

Theo's one of those sims whom I think can't get any better looking, and then I go and put a top hat and tux on him and I know I was wrong.
Oh and Doc

He heartbarfs Marielle.
I really like Timothy, I might have to find a way to bring him into the story more.

I'm thinking about getting rid of the couple of shiny custom skins I've got, and I'm also getting rid of the heavily shaded eyes since the odd things that happen with them freak me out. I'll have to try to find a suitable set of eyes for him and test them out in bodyshop.
Another wedding now: Theo's

Jamie had a bit of trouble with the door when she arrived.

"Yeah Jamie you walk through this big open bit here."
This was before I'd even got them to the wedding arch:

The wedding actually took place after Eddie's but it was better storywise to have Theo thinking back about it. Orikes the other day I said I liked to look at the picture whilst I write, good job I did with this one because you can clearly see Eddie's wedding ring.

Lots of guests:

Inside Jamie provided the music, even though it wasn't appreciated:

And Di proved she was not immune to Stanley's charms:

The happy couple was happy:

Bonus odd glitch with Vi and Thomas's bed:

Onto the honeymoon now. You didn't get to see much of the cottage in the update, but it's a dear little thing:

Tiny hall and kitchen, medium sitting room with a small dining room. Two bedrooms, but the master one does have a dressing room, and a bathroom.

Marielle wasn't impressed but I don't care.
There were quite a few pictures I didn't use, here's a selection.

"Your cousin's hot."
"My cousin's hot?"

"You're boring me with this talk of Timothy."

I really wish I could have used this shot of Marielle looking back at the fire dancer, but I didn't frame it well and the boom box is very, very visible.

Eddie didn't get on with Captain Dregg. The ghost made him cry.

Marielle did though so what that says about the good captain I don't know. She does now know the sea shanty, but she's not shared it with anyone yet.

Yeah...she did like the hot air balloon apparently.

Crispy fried male guest wandering round the women's section of the Spa? Not really the done thing, but I designed the Spa to allow me to mix the genders if I wanted to.

The Parsimonious baths I used for this lot are lovely, but the water doesn't fit the mesh meaning I have to choose camera angles wisely.
Yet another reason to not like Marielle.

"I know I keep going on about your cousin Timothy, but your cousin Theo is hot too."

"Yes I am aware that quite a few of the ladies think that Theo is hot or Nummy, but I am also aware of the fact that one of those is his wife who will come round and bitchslap you if she catches you saying things like that."
It wasn't the woohoo that night that got Marielle knocked up but rather this one:

Naked on the couch in the dressing room. How very Victorian.

"Timothy's hot!"
STOP IT MARIELLE!

Pretty shot of the pier at night because I like pretty shots.
This next picture is on a lot you never saw. I packaged up one of the temples from Twikii and put it down next to a copy of the Hatfield House from MTS2. The idea is that Hatfield is the home of a lord who was in the navy. He travelled to Twikii and was enthralled by the temple so much he had one built as a folly on his land when he returned. I didn't really finish making the lot Victorian, neither did I finish kitting Hatfield out as a community lot, plus I had enough pictures from the other lots so I left it out. Eddie did get the wish memento though.

I was going to have the scene in the teaparlour with Marielle turn into an argument with Eddie when he got there, but decided I didn't need it, plus it might be a bit too heavy handed. She really didn't like talking to him there though.

I didn't purposefully have Eddie sunbathe. I was off seeing to his horrible pregnant wife who was on the verge of starving to death despite having eaten a big meal an hour before.

Yes he got a tan at night.
This next picture I was desperate to use because I think it is lovely, but it would have been at the end of the conversation on the pier and I couldn't think of anything to add to that that wouldn't feel like pointless filler, so it got axed.

I had various pictures I took of Eddie on his own that last night including this one:

Although I like his expression here, I'm glad I went with the very dark shot of him in the deck chair. I really do think that he would have wanted to put some distance between himself and Marielle.
Business spam now.
You get all sorts in the shops.

"Come on grumpy lady, buy something from the nice lady in the pretty hat."

"You realise that I am only asking you if I can help you because the clicky person is making me since everyone else is busy. I do still hate you for poking me all that time ago."
"Yeah whatever. Where are your tulips?"

"Tell you what I don't think I'm going to help you."

"Can you believe she wants me to help her after what she did?"
I love Beth.

I think someone might have told Indy it would be nice if he frequented the Legacy's shops.
William is still working on his robotics badge. He got his silver last night when I played so I'm hoping he will soon get his gold. The newest AL patch apparently puts badge building back to the speed it was with OFB.

I used almost all the pictures I took of Marielle, because she really is the worst pregnant sim ever. I might have to shoot more scenes for the next chapter with her in my dummy hood, because I have to have her constantly eating or sleeping. She did manage to talk about this with Eddie one night.

I have a whole series of pictures of Beth and William cuddling in bed. I purposely chose to use one of her cuddling him and not the other way round for the last shot since to me it contrasts with Eddie's marriage. I can't ever imagine Marielle being as tender towards Eddie as Beth is towards William.

I've often said about how much I love playing a lot with Eddie, Theo and Stanley on it and the next few pictures show why. The scene at the pub was originally meant to include Stanley as well, but because I'm an idiot, his house didn't have a phone at the time and I arranged this as an outing. I did think about telelporting him over when I got to the Bull, but the more I thought about it the more sense it made if it was just the expectant fathers, so I left Stanley out. Don't worry he will get to go down the pub with them soon.

Yeah...doesn't matter what century they live in does it? Oh and this is before I changed the ceilings too so sorry about the non Victorian ceiling there.
it also helps I love bar faces too I suppose.

"Hey look, the camera. These pictures will probably end up on Di's LJ won't they?"
"Yeah probably."
"And Doc reads that doesn't she?"
"Think so, why?"

"Hey Doc, I know you love your Nummy Theo. Just wanted to say *click click* right back at 'cha."

"BWHAHAHAHAHAHA."
"What?"
"How many drinks have you had?"
"I...lost count after the fifth. Why?"
"You appear to be channelling Stanley."
"Really? Hahaha. Oh I need another drink."

Boys if you've quite finished horsing around, I'd like to start shooting now.

"Shooting? We're shooting? But I wasn't ready. Oo I've probably ruined your shot."
No Eddie I wasn't shooting yet. Can we please start though?

"Oh good my drink's here."
It really is just so much fun to shoot with these two.
I have a bit of Anthony and Alexandra spam for you too, but first I want to talk music.
There was a very interesting thread at Boolprop not that long ago about the soundtrack to your legacy. I never answered it because the only part of my legacy at the time that I could put music to was Henry and George's conversation in prison. When Henry turns round and says to George that he is much more like George than George wants to think I always hear the part of Sad but True where Hetfield belts out "I'm YOU!" There are a couple of lyrics though that remind me of Alexandra's story.
I'm useless at changing the CD in my car and for the last four or five months I've been listening to a copy of Lacuna Coil's Karmacode. Youtube linky if you've not heard of them and want to check them out. (I recommend Heaven's a Lie, Enjoy the Silence and Swamped to start you off). There's a line in Within Me which says "there's something about you that will make me stronger." I've always imagined Alexandra saying that to Joe in the Lost In a Love hedge Maze where they first danced, her face perfectly poised and elegant as if time had stopped for Joe, but not for her.
Also every single time their cover of Enjoy the Silence comes on I think of Anthony. I had already decided that the declaration of love would happen in bed and that Anthony would be full of doubt as to why she had slept with him, I just hadn't worked out the words I would use for the caption. Hearing that chorus (all I ever wanted, all I ever needed, is you in my arms) I knew I had to paraphrase it and have Anthony think those words.
Ah heavy metal and Victorian melodrama. Not neccessarily two things you would think about going hand in hand together.
Anyway on to the pictures:

Marielle's a crap mother, Alexandra's a brilliant one. She's proven herself to be a true family sim.

Anthony's a fantastic father too.
Alexandra doesn't like holding hands.

"Oh but can't I go for the booty grope?"
No. My script calls for you to take his hand and pull him out the room after you, not grab his bum and chase him out the room.
"Spoilsport."
I have to shoot around a lot of this:

This picture nearly made it into the chapter, but I decided that actaully I quite liked going straight to Anthony having his doubts laying in bed.

Finally, yes I did wait until this point before having them woohoo. They'd been married about four days I think, but I did make it up to them. In order to get the shots I needed they woohooed four times. Once to get Alexandra pregnant, once for me to suss out the order of the animations when they lay in bed afterwards, once to shoot Alexandra's shots and once to shoot Anthony's. I also had to get them out of bed and put them back in it several times to get the other pictures and make sure that Anthony was holding Alexandra and not the other way round.

Anthony looks pretty pleased to to have finally consummated the marriage doesn't he?
Some random funny picspam I promised Jamie I would post. Bee is in a lovely green dress from Parsimonious, but the UV map is a bit skewiff when it comes to the hands.

Those dots on her knuckles are actually her finger nails.
Her palms look even worse.

Yeah...those stripes are meant to be on her fingers, not her palms.
Trouble is I like the dress on her.
Final lot of picspam now. This is something which happened in my game last night. I've never seen it before, but it really did make me smile.

"My wife's crazy isn't she?"
Yup pretty much. Hey I know what you could do.
"What's that?"
Throw her in an asylum and forget about her.
"Oh I don't think I could do that. Could I?"
That's all the pictures I have for you at the moment. Although you might all like to know that I have a spare now called Stuart. He has S1 skin, green eyes and brown hair. I'll see what he looks like next rotation.
First thing to talk about I think is how difficult it was for me playing Eddie's wedding. I really did hate doing it knowing what Marielle will be treating him like and how their marriage will be. I know he's only pixels and I know I'm manipulating it al, but it was still horrible to do.

Date: 2008-12-30 07:23 pm (UTC)Geeze, if Marielle were in our times, she'd be a complete hooker, wouldn't she? I mean, not that she's not one in secret right now, but still.
I can't wait to see what your spare looks like! Hopefully he escaped the Marielle genes as well Bertie did, but then again, that would be kind of boring if they BOTH just looked like clones of Eddie.

Date: 2008-12-30 11:09 pm (UTC)Marielle is just...yeah. Needs a damn good slap at the very least.
I wouldn't mind Stuart looking like his mother actually. You're right it would be very boring if he takes after his father as much as Bertie does. I did use the lot debugger to randomise the genetics so hopefully they will look very different. You never know he might inherit some recessives from Eddie and look like William.

Date: 2008-12-30 07:32 pm (UTC)I can imagine that throwing Eddie and Marielle's wedding was hard. I put off throwing Dora and Topher's wedding because I knew what I'd be doing with SJ, and it pretty much sucked.
And Nummy Theo has good taste--three-bolts SimNerd and heart-barfs Marielle! That's my boy!
LOL at Beth being all grumpy when Christy showed up! Beth RULES! And there's Indy: "Hey! I'm here!" *fingerguns* Honestly, the only playable Sim I EVER have trouble with in my neighborhood businesses is Spider Jerusalem, and he seems perfectly well-behaved in everyone else's games!
LOVE Eddie and Nummy Theo at the bar! *click click* indeed, Nummy Theo!
Of course, Anthony and Alexandra are adorable together. I am waiting with baited breath to see what happens to Joe. I'm sure Archie, Indy, and Larch will enjoy themselves. Especially my lovely little protective Family Sim Larch!

Date: 2008-12-30 11:18 pm (UTC)Yeah it's horrible having to do something like that. It's knowing the emotions you'll be writing and how it will turn out.
Theo has very good taste. The man's great.
Beth is just so great. I think people forget that she has a temper though and can hold a grudge.
They cracked me up when I was shooting the pub scenes with the faces they were pulling.
I've been writing some more of Punishment tonight with the intention of shooting some more Thursday or the weekend. I want to get it done and published fairly soon.

Date: 2008-12-30 07:50 pm (UTC)Now if only I could take pitchfork to Marielle.
The bar scene was also fantastic. The only thing that would have made it better was Stanley being there too. :)

Date: 2008-12-30 11:26 pm (UTC)Stanley will be in the next pub scene. I've got to film it the next time I play the family so it should be fun.

Date: 2008-12-31 12:49 am (UTC)Sooooooooooo many LOLs ensued. Oh, Theo.

Date: 2008-12-31 04:42 am (UTC)I love Anthony and Alexandra. So much.
I forgot to mention it in my boolprop comment, but Eddie looks incredibly yummy with a tan, I don't care if it was a moon tan or not. :)
The bar picspam made me lol. *click click* indeed.

Date: 2008-12-31 06:29 pm (UTC)The worse thing about her horrible pregnancies, especially this one, is the lack of pictures of her. I'm going to have to shoot some scenes in my dummy 'hood I think.
He does look good with a tan I agree.
Hehe pubs are fun.

Date: 2008-12-31 05:30 am (UTC)Anyway, wonderful pic spam. I love seeing out takes from chapters. Marielle's aspiration failure was awesome as was Theo and Eddie at the bar.
I love the top hats on your sims. I wish I had a good excuse to use them in my game as they are awesome.
*hugs Anthony and Alexandria*

Date: 2008-12-31 07:17 pm (UTC)Her aspiration failure made me giggle a lot, and I love playing Eddie and Theo on the same lot. I just have so much fun with them.
I love the top hats, I want to put them on every male sim apart from Eddie. Well Eddie has to keep his long hair.
I adore Anthony and Alexandra.

Date: 2008-12-31 02:51 pm (UTC)I agree that top hats are a very good thing, especially on the heads of pretty Victorian men. Mm indeed.
And I still can't stop 'aww'ing over Alexandra and Athony, they're just so wonderful together. Happiness is a good thing indeed :)

Date: 2008-12-31 07:21 pm (UTC)The bar animations are just so much win, and with those sims...yeah I had a lot of fun.
The pirate has made my list.. I doubt there is anything I can do to him, but he made my Eddie cry.
The top hats are looovely.
Anthony and Alexandra *sigh* I loves them so much. I think that they will be one of those couples I want to play in another 'hood at some point so they can be together forever.

Date: 2008-12-31 10:05 pm (UTC)I completely understand about the inappropriate heartfarting. I have it going on for the first time in my legacy and its really bad since the one doing it has 10 outgoing points. I have to watch her like a hawk. She's already fallen in love with her cousin once, and I had to undo it. I'm so scared she's gonna leap into his arms again. *head desk*
I love Theo, Stanely, and Eddie together. All their scenes together always put a goofy grin on my face. Oh and Alexandra and Anthony put the same smile on my face. Yay, Anthony babies! I can't wait to see pictures.

Date: 2009-01-01 02:21 pm (UTC)Yeah it gets a bit icky when Vi walks by heartfarting Theo. I keep yelling at the screen "he's your grandson woman." Doc had trouble with Indy doing that to Coco when they were at uni. high outgoing sims can be a pain at times.
I have so much fun playing the boys and I think it comes through in my writing.
One Anthony baby is already born, I'll see what he looks like next time I play them.

Date: 2008-12-31 11:20 pm (UTC)And heh at Jamie getting stuck in the door.
Very cute cottage.
Yay for Doc and Theo and Alexandra and Anthony, and boo for Marielle!
And ooh, hot Theo and Eddie at the bar.

Thanks, I like the cottage a lot. It's simple, but that's what a seaside cottage should be I think.
I love those boys, I really do.

Date: 2009-01-05 06:19 pm (UTC)The weddings were awesome. Both of them. Jamie getting stuck in the door was funny.
Poor Timothy. Even if Marielle does have three bolts for him, she doesn't deserve him. And she doesn't deserve Eddie either.
Yay for two weddings and boo for one of the brides! Marielle of course.
Theo and Eddie at the bar was a brilliant scene, and it's even funnier here. Theo always seems to know that the camera's there, and it's funny, it really is.
I love Beth too, she's absolutely awesome. It's funny when she's like "you expect me to help THIS woman?"
It's good to see Alexandra, as an awesome mother. It gives her yet another good point over Marielle, and she already had many.
And I've got to try moon tanning sometime in Bon Voyage. It looks brilliant, as in: "Hey Ma, it's a tan! It's a tan at night!" It's good legacy material.
The cottage is very good, and simple and Marielle has bad taste in decor if she doesn't like it. It fits in perfectly with the sea.
And Marielle's aspiration failing was one of the best tidbits of picspam I've seen to date.
Okay, I'm done blabbing now. But I want to say, that you are brilliant when it comes to writing captions. Absolutely brilliant.

Date: 2009-01-06 10:47 pm (UTC)Apart from having to marry Eddie to Marielle the weddings were fun to play.
I love Beth to bits, and one of the things I love is the fact that she does have a temper and as you can see still holds a grudge against Christie.
Alexandra is just wonderful and I love watching her with her kids.
I've had quite a few sims get a moontan. The key is that they start sunbathing at about 18.00, so they are still laying there when it gets dark.
I like the cottage, and I did try to make it fit in with being on the beach. :)
Marielle's aspy failure made me giggle a lot, especially when Eddie started saying she was crazy.
Thanks, I just write whatever comes into my head for these posts. It's a nice change from writing the story, but I don't think I could do an observational legacy: I'm far too random.
