I have only one more semester to play and then I'm done, with the rotation. I should really have spent the past week getting on with that (it's Bertie and the boys so it's a really fun house to play, and I had a ball when I last played them on Sunday), but I didn't. It's not as if I didn't want to. The fizz of excitement I get when I'm about to start working on a new chapter is bubbling through my veins, and yet I held back, because I was working on some cc.
It's not even cc I need immediately (in fact I won't need it for a little while, unless I decide to throw a small getaway in for some newly weds), but it is cc I've wanted for a long, long time. I'm making defaults for the Bon Voyage object NPCs that fit the theming for my three holiday destinations. I apologise for the fact that most of these pictures are crappy CAS shots, but I didn't want to try to get the game to generate all these sims.
Tour guides:

Simmouth (tropical)

The Highlands (mountain)

Takemizu Village (far east).
Food stands:

Simmouth (fish and chip stands on the coast, the BEST way in the world to eat chips. Honestly, you have not eaten chips until you have strolled along the prom of a British seaside resort, eating chips out of a paper cone with a silly little wooden fork, the smell of the sea mingling with the acrid tang of salt and vinegar from the chips).

The Highlands (I like to think that they serve Haggis, neeps and tatties rather than pancakes). Also the reason for there being so many of the male mesh, is because there are four original recolurs and I didn't know if the game chose one at random.

Takemizu Village (no great change with what I picture them serving here). Again, so many recolours because of the number of recolours of the original mesh.
Firedancer:

I'm using Sunni's replacement for the food server hair, since all three types use the same hair meshes, and hers is a nice all purpose style. And I used her firedancer replacement as a template for my own (plus I'm using her firedancer hair and face), but the rest were all made using this tutorial. It looks more complicated than it is, but it allows you to default replace outfits which normally share the same mesh with different meshes (hence my different tour guides above) and I think I'm going to use it to replace the diva dress and slob outfits. They're the only NPCs I now have who I can't change the clothes for using my normal methods and have them stick.
So that was my big cc project for the week, but I then ended up doing a smaller one. Vampire of Death posted this wonderful Geisha and Maiko kit over in the GoS monthly theme thread and it got me thinking about the Geisha in my game. To tell the truth, I've never been completely satisfied with the makeup I've been using for them, plus I have to give them a very light skin, since the mask I had, didn't cover the neck, and it all looked odd. Now you all know me, I like things to be as authentic as posible and it was starting to annoy me. So, I downloaded her kit, took a look at it, and realised that I could alter the mask I already had to look better, and then edit some kimonos too.
This is the Geisha who'll be going into the new neighbourhood, first with the original makeup, and then with the new mask, kimono and eyebrows I made, and an alpha edit of Vampire of Death's lips.

I'm much, much, much happier with how she looks. Not so glarey and much more like she is wearing authentic makeup. And that's what I've been up to this week.
Before I go and actually play now, I just wanted to say that this hurricane which is bearing down on the States, is sounding really scary for all my friends on the East Coast. I'll be thinking of you all and hoping that you stay safe. So, STAY SAFE and please drop a quick line as soon as you can to let me and everyone else know that you are okay. I'm going to worry about you all.
*hugs*

Date: 2011-08-27 04:01 pm (UTC)The Geisha mask is amazing. I thought the original looked so good, but the new one just blows it out of the water.
*is craving fish and chips now*

Date: 2011-08-29 10:30 pm (UTC)The firedancer's outfit is one I downloaded from somewhere (GoS I think, but as soon as I saw how singed it looked as I was going through BS looking for suitable outfits, I knew I had to use it.
I'm so pleased with the Geisha mask, and I can give them darker skintones now so yay!
Thanks, and I would say I'm sorry about the fish and chips, but ... I'm not. XD

Date: 2011-08-27 07:25 pm (UTC)As an East Coaster in the US, I'm ready for Irene. Food & water enough for a few days, all objects from the yard that could blow around are inside, and I have plenty of gas for the backup generator when the power goes out (and it will, because I live in the middle of freakin' nowhere and it always goes out when the wind blows). Thanks for thinking of us. I'll post on my LJ when this is all over.

Date: 2011-08-29 10:32 pm (UTC)Good! Everyone I've spoken to seems to have got through it alright, although I know Cait was evacuated and I don't know if she's been home yet or what she found there. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for her.

Date: 2011-08-28 01:06 am (UTC)Thank you for the well wishes concerning Irene, I'm hoping she'll blow herself out before reaching us, but we'll probably loose power, we always do.

Date: 2011-08-29 10:38 pm (UTC)Thank you. At this point, I don't know how to be any different, and although it would make things much easier for me if I didn't get it into my head to do these things. But that wouldn't be as much fun. :D
