Progress

I thought I'd check in here with a  progress report.  I've still not made a start on the comments I owe at Boolprop.  For some reason I just can't get motivated to do it, but I have loved every update I've read recently, so if I normally comment on your story, please know I did enjoy and will try to get round to commenting soon.

As for the next chapter of the legacy, it's definitely going to be a 2 parter.  I've written just under half of the first part, and sorted for most fo the rest.  I do need to do a tiny bit of shooting for it, but I'm well on the way to getting it done.  Hopefully it won't be too long until it is published.  I'll then be sorting the second part and seeing what else I need for that.  It really is great fun to be writing the next chapter and moving the story forwards again, but I think I might be getting a bit too verbose.  The first part is way longer than an exchange chapter used to be, and I'm probably putting too much in, but there are several important scenes I had to put in as well as character scenes and linking scenes, so, well, hopefully you won't find it boring.

Oh and as an extra, this si something that Ori posted on her LJ, and I thought I'd write down my goals here too.

What are YOUR Sims2/Sims3 related goals/plans/ideas for 2010? )

Hello everyone. Filming Vicky's interlude is currently eating my brain, so I thought I'd share the brain numbingness and let you all know how it is going, because I'm nice like that.

Some talk and a few pictures )

Aaaand I think that's enough procrastinating tonight.  Might try to get a couple more shots in the bag.  Oh and I plan on catching up with comments after part one is out.  If I don't, it'll be after part two, and that may be a couple more weeks, and I'll probably have more to add to the list then, which I don't want.

So...I had plans for what I was going to do with the sims today.  Big plans. I was actually going to play, something I've not done for weeks and weeks.

But...I decided to make my own multi PT instead.  I mean, I'm not going to start having everyone star gaze, so why do it?  Because although I love Celestia to bits, and I'm glad I had a replacement PT in my game when she was spawned, and a very alien looking sim is not going to look at home in my legacy, Celly looks too human to me.  If it wasn't for her elf ears and green skin, you wouldn't know she was half alien.  Believe me I've switched her skin tone in bodyshop so I know, that's why.

So these are the PTs I made:
Messing with aliens. )

I'm now going to go and do a bit of that playing I meant to do. :P

Hope you have all had a good weekend.

Quick run by comment by me before I settle down to see if I can get the last 30-odd slides written for my update.

Every so often I go and play with the Haiku generator because it makes me laugh. I've come to the conclusion that I obviously don't write anything profound in my journal since most of the time they are nonsensical collections of random words, such as this one:

But some are just plain funny:

Right I really must get on and write.

Sees ya later.

Trouble is I keep getting distracted by little projects.  Today I was going to play a large chunk of Vicky et al's final year at uni.  I've got to get all three girls engaged and shoot a few things at their graduation party.  I did start, but my heart wasn't in it.  Thing is Florence is going to be the placeholder there for a bit, so I invited her over to have her pledge.  Seeing her on the lot got me thinking about Anne and something that's been bugging me slightly.

Fun with skintones )

So...

...I've been feeling pretty blah about simming and my legacy and stuff for the past week.  I think it's because I've got things going on at work, and then I come home and find that I'm not making progress with my hobby.  It even spread to my enjoyment of reading other's legacies and commenting on them, which is why I've been a bit quiet.

I really did feel like I've been getting no where fast with my rotation, and getting everything I need to write chapter 18.  Trouble is when I feel like that I don't want to play, so I do something else which means I don't play and I get more blah and the circle continues.

BUT Gin's wonderful chapter lifted my spirits on Saturday, and I've finished the things I was doing whilst I procrastinated.  I also decided yesterday that enough was enough so I abandoned the rotation and went and shot everything I need to finish the chapter.  It just needs sorting and writing now.  All this means I'm feeling like playing today for the first time in a week.  Oh and I thought I'd share my pretties.

What I've been doing when I should have been playing. )Right I think I'll go and play now, since I do feel like playing for a bit.

Yeah, so I'm finding it really hard going writing chapter 14.1.  I have ideas as to what to write, but it's taking me so long to get it down in Word.  Normally when I'm writing during the week, I average 20-25 slides a night.  Not a great deal, but I tend to do other things at the same time, such as play the game or surf the net.  This week I'm averaging 12.15 slides.  It's only a short chapter too (about 100 slides) but with only 41 done I'm not sure if I'll hit my self-imposed deadline of uploading on monday night.

I think part of it is I am so close to sending the second wave to university and getting started on Edward's story, I just want to get that done.  I am really looking forward to getting the kids to uni and having the plot start to take off again.  I don't want to say too much, but when my readers figure out what is going on I want there to be gasps, gasps I tell you, and shouts at the screen of "Nooooo."  You'll probably all find it very anti-climactic now, but there you go.

With the boys at uni I can start thinking more about the BC too.  I still have two spaces left, so I'm hoping that there will be two more volunteers when the next chapter goes up, because Theo is in it and everyone can see how yummy he is.

I've also been procrastinating by re-colouring some of the eyes I made last year.

Anyway, I think that's enough procrastination for now.  Back to the writing.

I'm currently procrastinating whilst trying to write my next chapter.  I have only 25 slides more to do, and the cover to make, but I'm finding it hard going.  I thought I'd do this to try to gain some inspiration.

The Big Read reckons that the average adult has only read 6 of the top 100 books they've printed. Well let's see.

1) Look at the list and bold those you have read.
2) Italicize those you intend to read.
3) Underline the books you LOVE.
4) Reprint this list in your own LJ so we can try and track down these people who've read 6 and force books upon them

Hmm, considering how many of books I have read over my life, I thought I would have read more on this list than I have.    The BBC website has a section devoted to their Big Read.  Their version goes up to 200 and there are a lot more that I've read, including lots of Pratchetts.

Yeah, still not feeling inspired, oh well, I will get it all finished for Monday, but I think I'm done for tonight.

Ok, I'm killing some time because I really don't feel like putting any more slides back into their proper order (done 60, but I'm dreading if it all changes again) so I thought I'd do this name thing. :)

1. Are you named after anyone? If so, explain.

Not with my first name, no.  My parents picked it because they liked it.  Unfortunately since when I was born Charles and Diana had not long been engaged and the wedding was being planned everyone thought I was named after her.  I wasn't, my name is actually different to hers and Mum and Dad got quite fed up with putting everyone right.

My middle name though is my grandmothers first name. There is a tradition on both sides of my family of naming the children's middle name after another family member.  My brother's middle for example is my grandfather's middle name, my Dad's middle name is his grandfather's first name etc.

2. Do you have your children's names picked out already? If so, is there any significance?

No, not really.  There are names that I like, but I've not thought about naming my unborn children them. Lol.

3. If you were born a member of the opposite sex what would your name have been?

Probably Jonathan, which is my brother's name.  Mum has always loved that name and wanted to use it if she had a boy.  I think she's actually disappointed that Jon can't stand using his full name.

4. If you could re-name yourself what name would you pick and why?

When I was younger I desperately wanted to change my name, I came up with several different ones.  I think it was partly because I got teased a lot over the whole Charles and Di thing.  I'm sure you can imagine it "Hey Di, how's Charles?  Are you looking forward to being queen?" that sort of thing.  As a child of eight it got very annoying, and I hated my name being shortened to Di.

Now I love my name, it's not that common, but it's not rare either.  I also don't mind being called Di any more, but off of the internet only my family and closest friends call me that.

5. Are there any mispronunciations/typos that people do w/ your name constantly?

Yes, I am constantly being called Diana both in person and on paper.  It really bugs me, because Diana is a different name to Diane, and is not my name.   I have to correct anyone who calls me that, I can't let it lie.

I have also seen Diane spelt several different ways too, Dian, and Dianne are the most common, but someone did spell it Dyane once.  People always get my surname wrong too even when I spell it for them.

Hah, well that killed some time. :)
