I get the impression that I am once again trying to do too many things at once. I have a pile of mostly complete cc projects, a chapter in the works, a new writing challenge and goodness knows what else, so I thought I’d make a note of the ones I’m actively working on here.

I was working on something yesterday and today that meant I had to take apart DJMur's curly mesh (Zane's hair mesh, Bertie's hair mesh), and while I was at it, I decided to fix the irritating gap at the neck, so here you go.

One last thing, Happy Birthday De!  I hope you're having a good day.  :D

Time for another rebuild update.  :D

Progress report )

My big project this past week has been hats!  It's only a fairly recent thing that we've stopped wearing hats as an everyday occurrence.  Nowadays, they are seen only on special occasions, such as at weddings, or Royal Ascot, but up until after the Second World War, everyone wore a hat when they left the house.  In fact the older generation (men especially) still wear hats.  My Grandad always wore a cloth cap when he went out.  Anyway the point is that all of my sims should wear hats when they're outdoors, but that there is a woeful lack of them, especially for my menfolk.  Up until this week I've only had two hats I've really used for my blokes, the base game top hat, and a bowler from Carnaby sims.  The bowler was only for teens, adults and elders, but a few months ago, I enabled it for young adults, and made several recolours using different hat colours I've found at AAS and [livejournal.com profile] xgoat's LJ.  I also planned to pooklet the base game fedora, since, I can also get away with using that, but even then, that mean I had only three styles of hat to use.  I want the new neighbourhood to be as accurate to the time period and country as possible, and having so few hats wasn't what I wanted, so I made some more.  Four styles of men's hat and one lady's.

we have a range of up to date styles )

EDIT: I'm currently without internet at home, and will respond to the rest of the comments, either when it's back up, or in my lunch break at work.

SO with the xmas special over and done with, I'm back to working on the rebuild, and it's going well.  With the exception of the society houses, I've got every other complete lot now in the new hood, and the new dummy hood.  I also finished furnishing a lot I've had half finished for over two years, so I'm pleased about that.  I now have three lots I need to build for the move and/or the next set of chapters, one small and two large with specific purposes.  Of course, the lot I decided I wanted to build last week, wasn't any of those.  It was a completely unrelated farm.

Just a quick update today.  I've made a default replacement for the base game teen suit mesh (tmbodyopencoatlongpants) fixing the neck gap on the fit and normal state.  Click the picture of Ang's lovely Zane for details.

Fire!

After a lot of swearing, and deciding that I hate brass, (honestly, why so shiny?  It made things very, very difficult), I've finished the fireman's outfits.  Well, as finished as I care to be at the moment.  The helmet isn't perfect (both in terms of mesh and texture), but it's the best I can do at the moment, and, to tell the truth, I think it looks pretty damn good.  Certainly a lot, lot better then anything in game, and I've not seen anyone else attempt this, so ....

Fiiiiiiiiiiiiiire! )

Hello everyone.  I've been more than a little quiet lately, since I've not been feeling particularly chatty.  I did want to get a behind the scenes post done, but I don't have too much to say about the last chapter and it's filming, so that's been pushed to the back burner for a bit.  And I know I also have to respond to comments over at Boolprop.  I will get to that, but I'm not sure when, because, believe it or not, I have been very busy.

Things I've been doing instead of playing and writing )

Progress on the next chapter has slowed.  One more section to write, then it's typing it all up and doing the first edit before I can start shooting.  I've not done any writing today, but at long last, I've uploaded my zombie skintone.  Click the picture for details.

Soooo, I'm writing the next chapter at the moment.  Or trying to.  I keep getting distracted by other things on the computer and in fact have written more long hand in a notebook than sitting here staring at Powerpoint.  I'm thinking that I might have to do that for the entire chapter at the moment, but if I do, I do.  It's not that I don't want to be writing, because I do, it's that sitting here, I start getting other ideas that I want to do too.

Distractions this way )

I have only one more semester to play and then I'm done, with the rotation. I should really have spent the past week getting on with that (it's Bertie and the boys so it's a really fun house to play, and I had a ball when I last played them on Sunday), but I didn't. It's not as if I didn't want to. The fizz of excitement I get when I'm about to start working on a new chapter is bubbling through my veins, and yet I held back, because I was working on some cc.

CC pictures and things )
Before I go and actually play now, I just wanted to say that this hurricane which is bearing down on the States, is sounding really scary for all my friends on the East Coast. I'll be thinking of you all and hoping that you stay safe.   So, STAY SAFE and please drop a quick line as soon as you can to let me and everyone else know that you are okay.  I'm going to worry about you all.

*hugs*

So, I was feeling all inspired after reading your responses to my post yesterday this morning, so I went and had another look at the AL door I made, but couldn't get the frame to be recolourable on.

I've fixed it!

Turns out that it was set up with three recolourable subsets, (the door, door handle and frame) when the game only recognises two.  The frame got pushed out of the equation.  I've done some fiddling and now, the correct subsets are recolourable!

I'm very happy about this, and now I'm starting work on making the diagonal.  Maybe I will get to upload these after all.

Wait, is LJ actually working for me again now?  Yaaaaaaaay!

I guess this icon is kinda facepalmy, so I'll go with it.

So, I keep getting distracted at the moment.  I have 90 pictures on Photobucket waiting to be put into an out-takes post, lots of pictures from the rotation to sort out, the rotation to finish (three more lots, woo), comments to catch up on, and a legaversary photoshoot to sort out.  So what have I done all evening?  I took cashcraft's Regency teaset, which was far, far too big and rescaled it so that it's a normal size.  I then separated out the teapot, and the teacups and did the same mesh edits I did for her Vanity Fair set.  Since the mapping is so similar to that set, I now want to see if I can recolour the set in all my Vanity Fair recolours, so I can finally have matching teasets.  I think I'm going to have to do some fiddling, because the vanity fair set squashes the texture slightly and this one doesn't, so we'll see if I get fed up or not before I finish them.

But anyway, yes that is what I did, instead of what I'd planned to.  Made a new set of objects, and slaved them all to the original mesh.  *shakes head*  I just don't know what's wrong with me.

Told you it'd be soon.

I am being so productive at the moment, it's amazing.  (Ok, so that productivity isn't extending to reading the couple of updates I'm behind on, but getting all my other projects done so I can do that and concentrate on both CreMo and the Spotlight Interview (all questions welcomed by the way) this week is very good going).

In that spirit, I have two new skintones to share with you all.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the look of my game. I’m very fussy about the look in general, that’s why I made my own skintones and eyes, and I hate overly photoskinned clothes and objects, or too realistic looking things. Also since I got my new computer, I’ve become more and more aware of the quality of textures and things. All in all, I think my game looks unique with lovely rich colours. However, I’m still not satisfied. My perfectionism and OCD tendencies have reached a peak lately, and I’ve started to do something about the things that irk me when I look at my neighbourhood.
